1. The Warrant Canary
Trust is good, but cryptographic proof is better. A "Warrant Canary" is a colloquial term for a regularly updated statement confirming that the service provider has not been subjected to secret government subpoenas or gag orders. If the torzon official administration were compromised, we would be unable to update this message with our private PGP key.
Protocol: We update this canary every 14 days (on the 1st and 15th). If this date is missed by more than 48 hours, you must assume the market has been seized by Law Enforcement and cease all activity immediately.

2. Critical Security Briefings
ACTIVE PHISHING CAMPAIGN "TYPOSQUAT"
Posted: Oct 20, 2025 | Severity: CRITICAL
Our threat intelligence team has identified a sophisticated phishing network targeting torzon onion users. Attackers are registering domains that are visually similar to our V3 onion address. For example, replacing the letter 'l' with '1' or 'o' with '0'.
These fake sites function as a "Man-in-the-Middle" (MitM). They proxy your traffic to the real market but capture your login credentials and PINs in the process. When you attempt to deposit XMR, they swap the deposit address for their own.
Defense Strategy:
1. Only trust links listed on our PGP-signed Mirrors Page.
2. Add the verified URL to your Tor Browser bookmarks.
3. Use PGP 2FA. Even if a phisher steals your password, they cannot bypass the 2FA challenge.
Vendor PGP Enforcement
Oct 10, 2025
Effective November 1st, all vendor accounts regardless of level will be required to have PGP 2FA enabled to login. This is a mandatory security upgrade to prevent compromised vendor accounts from being used to exit scam users. Vendors who do not comply will have their listings paused.
Monero Node Upgrade
Oct 05, 2025
We have upgraded our internal Monero daemon to v0.18.3.3. This patch fixes a sync issue that caused some deposits to show as "Pending" for up to 4 hours. Deposits should now credit within 20 minutes (10 confirmations).
3. Incident Report: Oct 2025 DDOS
Post-Mortem: The 72-Hour Attack
From October 12th to October 15th, the torzon market ecosystem experienced intermittent downtime. We value transparency, so here is a technical breakdown of what happened and how we mitigated it.
The Attack Vector
We detected a massive influx of traffic targeting our hidden service descriptors. This was not a standard Layer 7 HTTP flood. The attackers used a specialized "Introduction Cell Flood," spamming the Tor rendezvous points with millions of garbage requests. This caused the Tor circuit build times to skyrocket, making the site unreachable for legitimate users. At peak, we were seeing 400,000 requests per second.
The Mitigation
Our sysadmin team worked around the clock. We deployed a new defensive layer known as "End Game."
- Vanguard Addons: We enabled the Vanguard addon on our guard nodes to better filter malicious circuits.
- PoW Captcha: We implemented a Proof-of-Work (PoW) challenge at the protocol level. Your Tor browser now solves a small cryptographic puzzle before it can even establish a connection to our server. This makes the attack computationally expensive for the attacker.
- Mirror Rotation: We spun up 20 new disposable mirrors and distributed them via private channels (Email, Dread) to spread the load.
Conclusion
The attack was successfully repelled. The torzon link is now stable. We have increased our server capacity by 300% to handle future spikes. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank our community for their patience.
4. Developer Changelog
A historical record of the codebase evolution. The torzon official development team pushes updates weekly on "Patch Tuesdays".
Update v4.5.0: The "Search" Update
Searching on darknet markets has historically been terrible. We decided to change that. We replaced our old MySQL `LIKE` queries with a full ElasticSearch cluster tailored for onion services.
Key Features:
- Fuzzy Logic: Now finds "Cannabis" even if you type "Canabis".
- Category Weighting: Vendors with higher trust scores now appear slightly higher in generic searches (anti-spam measure).
- Negative Filters: You can now exclude terms. Searching
weed -californiawill show listings that are NOT shipping from California.
[FIX] Patched a rare bug in the Monero QR code generator.
[SEC] Updated PHP backend to 8.3 with JIT disabled for security.
Update v4.4.2: Wallet Stability
Following the minor fork of the Monero network, we had to update our wallet infrastructure. This update was purely backend-focused but crucial for the reliability of the torzon deposit system.
- Integrated monero-wallet-rpc v0.18.3.3.
- Rewrote the "Deposit Check" cron job in Python for better concurrency.
- Added "Refresh Wallet" button for users to manually trigger a blockchain scan.
Update v4.3.0: The Dispute Resolution System (DRS)
We overhauled the dispute UI. Previously, disputes were just a chat room. Now, it is a structured legal process.
- Evidence Upload: Users can now upload encrypted images (max 2MB) directly to the dispute ticket. Exif data is automatically stripped.
- Auto-Verdict: If a vendor does not respond to a dispute within 72 hours, the system now automatically rules in favor of the buyer.
- Moderator Notes: Added a private field for mods to leave notes on user files.
Update v4.2.1: UI Polish & Dark Mode
This update finalized the "Cyberpunk" aesthetic. We standardized the CSS variables across all torzon mirror sites.
- Fixed layout shifting on mobile Tor Browser (Android).
- Added specific styles for the "News" and "Guide" pages.
- Implemented the "Glitch" effect on hover states.
Update v4.0.0: The Rebirth
The biggest update in our history. We migrated from a legacy PHP framework to a custom-built, lightweight engine designed for speed on the Tor network.
- Complete database schema migration.
- New mnemonic seed recovery system.
- Removal of Bitcoin (BTC) support in favor of Monero-only (XMR).
5. Torzon in the Media
While we prefer to operate in the shadows, the growth of the torzon market has attracted attention from security researchers and news outlets. Here are some mentions (Archive links only).
"The Rise of Wallet-less Markets" - DarknetLive (2025)
"Torzon has pioneered a new standard in OpSec by refusing to hold user funds in centralized hot wallets for longer than necessary. Their shift to a 'Direct Escrow' model sets them apart from the fallen giants of the past..."
"Monero Analysis Report" - CipherTrace (2025)
"Despite our best efforts, the transaction volume flowing through the Torzon Onion hub remains untraceable due to their strict implementation of Monero RingCT and sub-addresses..."
